Tutorials Thoughts

This was a very enlightening week. In my meeting with Jordana in the past Monday, I could understand more about my role in the group and get some directions about how and what to do. We realized that I got troubles cloning, so that's why I could not access the system before, but it was solved by the following day.

So for this week, I was working on video tutorials samples for the remixing function. As I told Jordana in the meeting,  I may feel unconfortable to record the video tutorials with my own voice, since English is not my first language, but she said it was fine to create a script and somebody else read it.. It also does not mean I will not try.. Well, I am here in the US to overcome those barriers.

We also talked about the page for tutorials in the Looking Glass website. I have designed prototypes for those pages (one to show all the tutorials and other to watch them) based on its current layout to show the team in the meeting, but I will post them also here. [See them below this post].

With the system running correctly, I finally could learn how to make body parts moviments (I called them advanced before, but they were pretty easy to do), remix and record simple examples for remixing. Comparing to the old version, it was so much better, easy and light! I liked the way that you made the help (steps explanation), you just reduced from 9 to 4 steps.. This task could be done in less than 2 minutes, maybe not for a new kid user, but still great improvement! It is very good the feeling of getting the things working..

Jordana and I also talked about creating tutorials for thos body parts actions.. Basic tutorials for the new layout are also needed. So next steps will probably be focusing on them. This Saturday I am going to observe the kids, I expect it will bring me many more ideas about what they want to know or what they could not do at all or not easily.

I only got some problems to move the objects through out the scene with the rotation and translation tools . It was selecting the world instead almost all the time, maybe the same problem the kids had on the past Saturday at the Science Center, according to the Aarthi's post.

<p>Well.. It is weird, but I couldn't upload any image in the blog's page, it didn't complete the upload and the only available picture was my profile photo, so I had to replace it by the prototype pictures to put them into the blog post, but after I posted it, only the current picture worked, the other was lost.. So I have to keep it this way until tomorrow so you can see and later I will go back to my correct profile photo..&nbsp;</p>

<p>I'm glad you have a start on this! I'm excited to see where it goes.</p> <p>Would you please put your prototype in SparkleShare, there is a designs folder just this type of work.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
