On to testing

This week is the start of an exciting step in the badges project – testing.

I met with Aaron and Kyle and we came up with a game plan for how we want the rest of the semester to play out. Instead of diving right into hooking Aaron’s new testing system up to the server, we decided that it would be more prudent to take a step back and get the kinks out of the system first. So, I will begin with trying to write the tests for the skills and see how that goes. This will let me familiarize myself with the system as well as write the tests that I will eventually need to run on all the worlds that get uploaded to the site. Moreover, I can give Aaron feedback on the user experience for the testing system. I battled with git in trying to get Aaron’s branch, but I now (hopefully) have everything in its updated form and will hit the ground running Friday and next week.

In the meantime, I also did a little more work on the badges info page. Ideally, when the prereqs for a badge have been completed, I would like the lines leading to it to turn black and have arrows. I have figured out that part, but am currently stuck trying to call my ruby method from javascript. From the looks of it, this may be a dead end and I should look for another solution to grabbing the information I need.
